JAPAN
To ease ourselves into our Asia travels, Japan was our first stop. We watched sumo in Tokyo, hopped in hot springs in Hakone, strolled the streets of Kyoto, and explored the Peace Museum in Hiroshima. The Shinkansen blew our mind, the people were friendly, and the food was delicious. We'll be back.

Stories
Walking through the museum is both enlightening and very difficult. You pass by charred remains of elementary school uniforms and listen to tragic stories of citizens near the blast.
Unlike Tokyo, Kyoto was not a major target of WWII bombing raids, which preserved the city's pre-war look and feel. It is one of the greatest walking cities we've ever visited.
Shrines abound in Kyoto. None was more impressive than the Kodaiji Light Show.
Ryokans are very traditional and generally do not serve Western food. That’s well and good for Adam, but not as good for Annie.
This is the largest fish market in the world. We knew that heading in, but it still beat expectations… it was shockingly large.
Tokyo is an amazing walking city. See here for more of our wanderings to the Imperial Palace, Shibuya Crossing, the Electric City, and more!
